The glow and sparkle of your life in Christ
can feel like an irritant to those walking in darkness. It will cut to
the heart of man and can feel like burning chigger bites on the skin.
When the consciousness of man burns, it is a good sign because it means
it's working. Leave them alone because either they will recognize and
respond to the call of GOD's light appropriately or they will
deliberately shun you.
Jesus' ministry was oftentimes filled with confronting and addressing a "stiffneck" people. It was these who were unwilling to bow to authority and because they were uncircumcised in heart, they were spiritually deaf.
Even on the day of his stoning, Stephen spoke a truth that cut straight to the heart of his persecutors. The Bible says in Acts 7:54 that "now when they had heard this, they were cut to the heart and they gnashed on him with their teeth".
Discernment by the Holy Spirit will allow you to see the "gnashing of teeth" even when it is glimpse through the simplicity of a pretentious smile. But when you do see it, remember, do not overcome evil with evil but overcome evil with good. Still, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!
