When Your Struggle Becomes Your Identity

If we are not careful, our struggles can be the only thing people see. Let's be REMINDED that when facing difficulty, the LORD is using that challenge, obstacle, trial, or circumstance to bring us to another level in Him.

When you are going through the potter's touch transformation, keep your mind stayed on Him and His WORD. Doing so enables His PEACE that passes all understanding to operate in your life so that the work can flow without hindrance or delay.

Just like the butterfly going through metamorphosis, even while its life is closing in and he's literally hanging upside down in its pupa stage, its outer shell, the cocoon (chrysalis) is producing a gold appearance. While it (((appears))) to be the very worst time in the caterpillar's life, the very thing that is encasing him, closing in on him, keeping him back, and breaking him apart is the very thing that GOD is allowing to transform him.

Our lives are very much like that butterfly. GOD uses our Gethsemane experiences to break our beliefs, our rules, our way of thinking so that we can be converted, renewed, and transformed by a new order of His WORD.

Riding the Last Cart of a New York Train? Are You Crazy?

I remember in my earlier teenage years, I was often led by the Spirit of the LORD to ride the last cart of the #2 train that I’d ride home in the evening hours after work each night.  For those who know, that's not (((really))) a smart move, especially for a young gal.

However, I was not scared but somehow held an inner peace amidst what most would classify as the "foulest" scene ever on a NYC train.  Moreover, each time, I could feel the beacon of my light burning within as I entered in through the sliding doors of the cart to take my seat.

Many dreadful things could happen in the "last cart”.  You have probably seen some horrific scene from a movie or read some storyline in an article, but you get my drift.  Anyhow, the last cart is known to be the “hangout” spot for drug addicts, hobos, drunkards, lunatics, and the bullies and troublemakers.  The boom box of course was a common played apparatus that led to extremely loud boasts and chatter, while the surrounding riders simply seemed to be lost in their own world (for the most part), that is, unless a fight or quarrel broke out.

There were many times, I was Spirit led to these types of places; places where most people would not go, or plainly put, DO NOT want to go.  My decision to ride the last cart went against every human wisdom and reasoning possible.  Yet, the love for souls knowing Christ was the driving force that led me to take these so-called “risks”, and so in total surrender to the call of GOD on my life, I could not resist.  All what I did, I did for the love of my Jesus – just as He had done for me.

Jesus often found himself on the lowly road; speaking life to those who had been rejected by society - the hurting, the homeless, the hungry, the sad, and the sick.  Yet, it is right there that the greatest miracles took place too.  For the blind regained their eyesight, the lamed walked, and the sick were healed.  Many lives were restored to a loving GOD as sin was forgiven and mercy extended to those He met.

Jesus met people where they were and miraculously left them better than He had found them.  Well, that is, unless He was confronting the stiff-necked religious folks, you know, the Pharisees and Sadducees of His day that oftentimes challenged His authority.

Let me take you to some very powerful words spoken by the Master himself.  In Luke 5:31-32, it reads, “And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.  I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance’.”

What are you doing with your light?  What are you doing with the power of Jesus’ influence?  Are you allowing the Light of Christ in you to infiltrate the sea of darkness around you or are you simply collecting a pool of “pretty fish” to display?

Remember, Jesus called us to be fishers of men for His vast and never-ending Kingdom.  Be careful that you are not filling your tanks only to look good on the outside, because eventually, you will find that all fish live in water and they still stink. ~Narda Goodson, 2013 Daily Doses of Gospel "PiLLs"

Scriptures to Meditate on:
Isaiah 64:6 - We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags.

Philippians 2:12-13 - work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

2 Corinthians 7:15 - And his affection for you is all the greater when he remembers that you were all obedient, receiving him with fear and trembling.

Philippians 1:6 - being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 5:9 - and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

Proverbs 10:16 - The labor of the righteous tends to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
