Political/Election Season

The tongue now has fingers to do its dirty work. Election Time - a popular time when seeing, hearing, reading, and sharing some of the most awful, disparaging, arrogant, slanderous, hateful non-Christ-like thoughts parade from the hearts of those who name the name of Christ is at its peak.

Challenge: Instead of letting the enemy use your wall of influence to spread more division and slander (the world does a great job at this already), redeem the time, value the opportunity GOD has given you to witness to the lost, and refuse the temptation to tear down, instead build up, exhort, and encourage.

We all have opinions but let us BE AN EXAMPLE OF LOVE to the world by praying for all men as the Word of GOD instructs, commands, and teaches in 1 Timothy 2. And yes, that means even for the ones you don't like.

Daniel lived in a time where there was much idolatry and paganism. Yet, he was always found and known for his devout prayer life and excellent spirit. Even when his colleagues tried to trap him, he prayed. Even when the king made a declaration that went against his GOD, he prayed. He didn't show up, become disrespectful, and verbally attacked the king. He prayed.

If and when GOD has a direct Word for the king or the president, He will raise someone to do it. Our job is to pray. 2 Chronicles 7:14 states that we are to HUMBLE ourselves and pray. Yet, we do the opposite. We carry on just like the world to argue, debate, lose friendships over political issues to continue the gossip and slander of division.

The LORD never once said pray for those you like, in fact, He never once asked for your opinion on the subject matter but rather left a command. Check it: 1 Timothy 2:1-4 reads: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Scriptures to Meditate on:
Matthew 15:10-11
After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand. It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man".

Matthew 15:18
But the things that come out of a person's mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.

James 3:6
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

1 Timothy 2:1-4
1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
