After Forgiveness Comes the Mandate

Yielding to the will of God means taking ALL not some or what we feel like giving up BUT ALL and laying it at the foot of the Cross.

The Word of God is explicitly clear concerning a righteous and set apart life and His Word must be obeyed in all areas; for partial obedience is still disobedience. We've got this thing all wrong if we WE THINK we can continue to live however we please and that God will understand. The only thing God will understand and respond to is your obedience to Him.

With a humbled and contrite heart the woman looks at Jesus as He declares these loving yet powerful words, "Go now and leave your life of sin."

Take whatever version you like of John 8:11 - the message is still the same - GOD's love leads us to repentance.  The woman's humility and brokenness opened the door to receive just that.

BUT TAKE NOTE that after forgiveness came the mandate - Go and sin no more or leave your life of sin.  After repentance Jesus tells us to forsake or leave our life of sin.  We must be willing to forsake, change, turn away from, renounce, and relinquish our sinful lives so that the process of change can take place.

OBEDIENCE is a fundamental key to serving Christ Jesus. Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command".
